Ways you can help
Financial contributions
Unrestricted funding allows us to be creative with our outreach and also supplies us with the capacity to pay for all the “boring” (but very necessary) stuff like rent, liability insurance, software, office supplies, and postage.
If you’re able to make a financial contribution, please visit our Network for Good portal and put “Giving Tuesday 2024” in the dedication line. The default is for a one-time donation; however, you can also opt to have a recurring monthly donation.
Volunteer time and expertise
Volunteers are the backbone of a growing non-profit. Bike Fun has had volunteers assist us with marketing plans; help set up and tear down the South Inglewood Bicycle Festival; and support our learn to ride students at our co-hosted All Ages Learn to Ride group class.
Bike Fun is especially interested in connecting with data researchers; grant writers; event managers; and bookkeepers. We are always in need of in-the-moment assistance with bike cleaning and refurbishment; supporting learn to ride classes; and helping with the South Inglewood Bicycle Festival. Interested in connecting? Drop a line to kj@nashvillebikefun.org and let’s talk!
Creating more partnerships in the Middle Tennessee community
We are always interested in hearing about collaboration opportunities across Middle Tennessee. Bike Fun has primarily connected with partners in Davidson, Sumner, Williamson, and Wilson Counties. Our mission is to serve the entirety of Middle Tennessee, so connections with organizations outside of the latter counties is greatly appreciated!
If you are employed by a company that promotes volunteerism in the workforce, let us know how we can put ourselves in the mix for volunteers to find! Does your kid go to a school that is interested in an after school bike program for learn to ride students? What about a summer camp created for older youth learn to ride students? Send us a line via our contact form!
Tell everyone you know about Bike Fun
“I don’t know why anyone would need to use a bicycle instruction service.”
That mom who has spinal stenosis who can’t run after her kid – that adult who never learned how to confidently ride a bike after a traumatic crash when younger – the long distance ride participant who wants to learn how to do emergency repairs on their bike – the student with mobility issues who wants to fly on two wheels – Bike Fun has helped them all!
Bike Fun is committed to creating accessible pathways for learning. We offer sliding scale fees for our small group classes (with discounted one-on-one lessons if follow up instruction is needed); have a bicycle library to loan to students during classes and for practice at home; and prioritize our learn to ride students for refurbished bike donations.
Keep us rolling into 2025
Bike Fun is thankful for contributions made towards our mission to create more joyful bicycle riders in Middle Tennessee. We made some significant advances in 2024, including
- securing a physical location for refurbishment, classes, and lessons
- creating more income streams
- certifying two Bike Fun instructors as League Cycling Instructors through the League of American Bicyclists
- donating over $15,000 worth of bicycles and accessories to students, community partners, and neighbors
- creating key partnerships with bicycle donors
- acquiring a cargo van for class supplies and drop-off and pick-up of bicycles and accessories (thank you, Walk Bike Nashville!)
