CANCELLED ONLINE: Basic Bicycle Maintenance – October 2020
October 13, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$35Classes and Lessons Suspended Indefinitely
After a grand rebooting of Bike Fun lessons and classes, we once again have to come to a halt. Due to an ongoing and likely lengthy family medical emergency, I am suspending Bike Fun’s in-person and online lessons and classes indefinitely. I anticipate being able to re-open for in-person and online lessons and classes in Spring of 2021.
Basic Bicycle Maintenance is an ONLINE CLASS via Zoom through Nashville Community Education.
KJ will be teaching as part of the Nashville Community Education series. This class is open to the general public, and registration is available through the Nashville Community Education website.
Class Overview
Learn how to take care of your two-wheeled freedom machine with 3 simple things you can do at home. Fixing a flat tire, cleaning and lubricating your chain and gears, and general bike cleaning can help keep you on a roll. Students will need tire levers, grease rag, degreaser, and bicycle specific chain lubricant.
Classes will be held online, in the comfort of your own home or office. This is a one-time, two hour class, and registration costs are $35. Follow up materials will be sent by email covering topics discussed in the class. Students are invited to send topic-specific questions prior to the class.
Class Topics
- Preventative maintenance
- Fixing a flat tire / patching a tube
- Cleaning your chain
- Lubricating your drivetrain
- Determining end-of-life for chains, cables, & brake pads
- General bicycle cleaning
- How often do you need to do all of this?
Think of this class as a YouTube video that talks back!
Students will have an opportunity to continue one-on-one assistance with KJ at a special NCE student rate.
Tire levers and bicycle specific chain lubricant can be purchased at local bicycle shops (support your local bike shop! but also, CALL AHEAD to make sure they have items in stock); degreasers can be something like Simple Green or Dawn dish detergent, easily obtainable at the grocery store; grease rags should have as smooth a nap as possible (old t-shirts work great).
Registration is available at the Nashville Community Education website.
