Sharing our Stories

When we first started Bike Fun in 2016, the reactions ranged from impressed (“Wow, I really could have used this service!”) to nonplussed (“Wow, why would anyone need this service?”).

Ten years later, we can certainly state that Bike Fun fills a needed role within the bicycle riding community in Middle Tennessee – not just by creating joyful riders but also providing connections to more ways to explore the world on two wheels. Our programming builds confidence with incremental exposure over time – “exposure, then expertise” – letting the student take the lead on how far to leap.

A new series

We’re excited to bring you a series of interviews with Bike Fun participants – volunteers, students, parents, supporters – showcasing the impact of our work over the years.

We’re grateful for all the work put in by volunteer Kendra Standberry to coordinate and collate these interviews, and thankful for the interviewees sharing how Bike Fun has impacted their lives.

These stories range from students learning how to ride for the first time to long-time riders discovering a new community of friends.

We’ll be posting these under the Sharing Our Stories category, once every week or so. Thanks for being on the ride with us!
