As we creep towards spring weather – while enjoying some of it this winter, too – Bike Fun is looking forward to helping create more joyful bicycle riders in Middle Tennessee.
We’re beginning to fill out our calendar for events in March and April. Highlights are below!
MARCH
Shelby Recreation Open House – Saturday, March 23rd, 10AM-2PM at Shelby Community Center. Join Bike Fun and other recreational groups at this popular event, hosted by Friends of Shelby Park. We will have the Bike Fun Bike Lab available to help get your bike ready to roll for the spring. We’ll also be hosting an all-ages balance bike race at 1PM! See details & participating groups here.
Basic Bicycle Maintenance – Sunday, March 24th, 1-4PM at Trinity Community Commons 37207. Learn about tires, chains, bike parts, & general bike maintenance at this foundational class. Sliding scale registration of $25-35; assistance available (just ask!). Students will receive maintenance supplies & how-to handouts to take home. Registration & more information here.
APRIL
30 Days of Biking kick-off group ride – Saturday, April 6th, 10AM (meet) – 2PM (at the latest). Join Bike Fun and others as we roll to celebrate 30 Days of Biking, a low-key challenge to ride your bike every day in April! We’ll roll from Ted Rhodes Golf Course onto the Cumberland River Greenway, with a shorter route for young riders. Older youth & adult riders are welcome to roll into Germantown for a cup of coffee at The Library Cafe (regular coffee or tea is on us!). Check out the information here.
7 & 8 year old Learn to Ride – Sunday, April 7th, 2-4PM at Bellevue UMC 37221. Know a 7 or 8 year old who needs some help getting onto two wheels? Sign them up for the 7 & 8 year old Learn to Ride class. Sliding scale registration of $10-20; bikes, helmets can be provided if needed at no extra charge. Class limit of 5 students. Pedal the Park with Friends of Shelby – Monday, April 8th, 5PM meet/5:30PM roll from Shelby Nature Center 37206. We’re back for 2024 with our casual park cruise Pedal the Park. We’ll head out from the Shelby Nature Center trailhead every 2nd and 4th Monday (weather pending). Need a bike? We can bring one for you to use. Check out the listing of events here.
South Inglewood Bicycle Festival – Saturday, April 27th, 1-4PM at South Inglewood Community Center 37216. Enjoy all things bike (& bike-related) at our second bicycle festival, held in partnership with the South Inglewood Community Center. Participants & supporters include NICA GRiT / Little Bellas, Music City Dope Pedalers, NDOT, Fairpointe Planning, Oasis Bike Workshop, Walk Bike Nashville, Inglewood Elementary, Music City BMX, South Inglewood Neighborhood Association, Friends of Shelby, Bike MS, WeGo, Patagonia Nashville, the Civic Design Center, Urban Bicycle Food Ministry, Bike Fun.
