The rates for Bike Fun classes, one-on-one or small group instruction, and some workshops will be increasing as of March 1, 2023.
Bike Fun will still offer sliding scale fees for students as requested. We intend to keep our small group instruction fees as low as possible. Regular group rides and community clinic and workshop offerings will remain free of charge.
Why are we raising rates?
Our fees have remained fixed since our inception as a for-profit entity in 2016, and did not change when we converted into a non-profit in 2020. Our growth from 2020-2022 has led to a need to hire more staff. Maintaining a consistent instructor pool is critical to making connections with students as well as creating bike community in Middle Tennessee. This long-term investment in our instructors will require competitive rates for hourly pay.
We have researched similar offerings by for-profit and not-for-profit groups in places like Pittsburgh, PA; Miami, FL; and Bentonville, AR. Private instruction fees range from $60 up to $140 for one hour of instruction. Some groups also charge extra fees for bicycle or helmet use during a lesson; Bike Fun does not.
If you sent an inquiry towards the end of 2022 but were unable to schedule a lesson, we will honor the current fee structure through April 2023.
If you are a current Bike Fun one-on-one student, we will honor the current fee structure through June 2023.
If you are a current Bike Fun one-on-one student on sliding scale rates, your rate will not change.
