In October of 2017 I took a trip down to Anniston, Alabama, to ride on the Chief Ladiga Trail with my dog, Frankie. This would be our first long expedition (52 miles round trip), and my first time doing solo camping. Put it this way:

I hear this phrase a lot: “I’m going to start bike riding so I can get back in shape.” But if you go for a walk, and your Fitbit battery isn’t charged, does it actually count? It’s shorthand for “I [want|need|have been told] to exercise
Ride your bike. Even when it’s cold. Even when it’s hot. Even when you feel like your legs are dying and you can’t make it up the next hill. Make it up the hill anyway. Hydrate. Stop and have a coffee or tea and sit
I rode around the neighborhood on Sunday, and these are the things I smelled: Laundry Deer poop Impending autumn Laundry Charcoal Grilling meat Wood smoke Laundry Car exhaust Laundry Some form of animal carcass (probably squirrel if I had to guess) Seems that Sunday night
