Pedal Forward: FTW-Only Ride – May 12, 2022

May 12, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

FTW rides Pedal Forward

Join us for our FTW group bicycle ride. Any time is great to ride, of course, but it’s even better when it’s with new bike friends.

This ride will center returning and new riders who hope to gain confidence and knowledge about riding a bike. Rides will be between 6-10 miles. No rider left behind. We will traverse streets and greenways.

Ride schedule & details

Meet in the main parking lot by the clubhouse at the golf course.

We will have a short (10 minute) maintenance demo at the beginning of the ride covering various topics like tire inflation, fixing a dropped chain, lubricating a drivetrain, and more. (Only one topic covered per ride!)
Meet at location 6:00p to mingle/chat; maintenance demo will happen by 5:40p; we will roll out of the location by 6:30p.
Don’t want to mingle or watch demo? Just come by 6:30p to roll out.
Start locations will be chosen from Ted Rhodes Golf Course (near the Cumberland River Greenway trailhead) in North Nashville and Shelby Park or Bass Park in East Nashville.
In case of predictable inclement weather, the ride will be cancelled. We will post updates on our Twitter feed.

Ride requirements & requests

Please note: masks are OPTIONAL*. If you feel sick, stay home!

We ride as a group to support new and returning bicycle riders – no rider left behind. If you are a more experienced bike rider, you are welcome to come and help other FTW riders build their riding confidence and skills!

Adhere to all greenway trail etiquette (ride on right, signal when passing, stay under 15MPH, slow down around walkers).

There is no charge for this ride, but donations to Bike Fun – a non-profit organization based in Nashville – are welcomed. See,, or for opportunities to donate. Volunteer ride leaders are always welcome!

* CDC guidance on mask use outdoors – especially in mixed vax status groups – suggests much lower transmission rates of COVID occurring, with the recommendation that non-fully-vaxxed folks still wear face coverings indoors and that all residents of higher transmission rate areas (including Tennessee) wear masks indoors. If you’re able to be vaccinated, please do so.
