Basic Bicycle Maintenance for 7-12 Year Olds – September 2022

Learn 3 caregiving tasks to keep your bicycle in tip top shape. Receive praise from the bike shop for keeping your bike in good order! Find out why it’s important to clean your bike, what inflation to use for your tires, how to clean a chain, and more.
You must register to attend – fill out this registration form! Class size is limited to 7 students. Suggested donation $10-15.
Want to keep your bike on the road and out of the shop? Come learn how just a few maintenance tasks will keep your bike going longer.
On Saturday, September 10th, Bike Fun is hosting a Basic Bicycle Maintenance class. We’ll be outside and will cover the basics of home bicycle maintenance, as well as provide time to answer all the questions you may have about bicycle maintenance. If you have a bicycle and bring it, we’ll also fill out your very own Bicycle Information Sheet.
This course is for anyone 7-12 years of age (and their parent or caregiver!!) who wants to learn more about taking good care of a bicycle. It will cover the following topics:
- How to fix a flat
- How to properly inflate your tires
- How to clean a chain and diagnose chain wear; and
- How to make basic brake adjustments.
Parents and caregivers are welcome to stay and watch. Bicycles can be provided for those who would like to attend but don’t have their own bicycle yet. Please bring a water bottle/hydration and a snack! Bike Fun will have limited snacks available.
Each student wil receive their own bicycle cleaner, tire levers, and chain lubricant so they can keep that bike rolling at home.
