SUMMARY:Confident Riding for Returning Adult Riders
DESCRIPTION:New class!\nBeen out of the saddle for a while? Let’s get back on!\nThis free workshop for returning adult riders is geared towards bicycle riders who want to boost their confidence to ride in the neighborhood\, to ride with their community\, and to ride on their own. \nTopics covered will include \n\nPre-ride bike check\nStrong starting and safe stopping\nScanning\, signalling\, and turning\nAssessing conditions when riding\n\nWho should take this class?\nThis class is designed for adult students who know how to ride a bike and want to increase their riding confidence after some time away from riding. Bike Fun has limited bicycles and helmets to use for students who need them. If you need a bicycle or helmet\, we have limited quantities available – just let us know on the registration form! \nWhat should I bring?\nIf you have a bicycle to ride that is in safe working condition\, please bring it! (Not sure if it’s in safe working condition? Bring it to a local bike shop for a once-over before the workshop. We cannot repair bicycles on site.) \nBring a snack and some water. Bathrooms are available on site as needed. \nOther class details\nWe will work in the back parking lot at Trinity Community Commons and then apply the skills we learn during a short neighborhood ride to Tom Joy Park and back. \nClass size is limited to 10 participants. \nThis class is free and open to the public. Donations accepted. \nFor the March edition of Bike Fun Bike Lab\, we will focus on brakes and braking systems from 9AM-10:30AM – so the drop in at the first part will look at brake pads\, cable tension\, cable health and strength\, and all the things you need to SLOW or STOP your roll! \nAt these drop-in sessions\, we’ll cover common maintenance issues that you may encounter while riding your bike. We’ll also discuss how to care for your bike to keep it running smoothly. Feel free to bring your own bicycle.
