DESCRIPTION:Find out about the East Thompson Lane Multimodal Project\n(ver abajo para español)  \nNDOT has the opportunity to create a new community connector for East Thompson Lane. This corridor is in the 2022 WalknBike plan as well as being on the high injury network. See the project page here. \nEvent Details\nJoin the Nashville Department of Transportation\, LDA Engineering\, and Bike Fun for a community engagement event about the East Thompson Lane Multimodal Project. \nWe will meet at Whitsett Park playground area by 1pm to roll at 1:30pm along East Thompson Lane.  We will return to the playground by 2:30pm to provide input into the project and enjoy snacks! \nBike Fun can provide some bicycles and helmets for those who need them – please contact us by no later than April 11th. \nDate: Saturday\, April 13th (rain date: April 14th)\nTime: 1PM meet – 1:30PM roll – return to Whitsett Park playground by 2:30PM for refreshments & reflections\nRegister: No registration is required but if you need to borrow a bike\, let us know by 4/11! DESCRIPTION:Get Rolling on Your Bicycle Journey\nBike Fun is lead teaching a course for EVERYBODY on learning (or relearning) how to ride a bicycle. This course is meant for brand new riders and for potential riders who are anxious about getting back on a bicycle after a long time away. Walk Bike Nashville is sponsoring the course. \nDo you know someone who hasn’t learned to ride a bike but wants to? Do you feel like you could use a refresher after a long\, long time away? Then we have something just for you! \nClass Details\nOn Sunday\, April 21st\, 2024\, Walk Bike Nashville hosts an EVERYBODY Learn to Ride event. Get started on your bike life! \nThis course is for people who have never pedaled a bicycle before or who have been away for decades! It will cover the following topics: \n\nGetting onto the bike\nBasic balance\nStarting and stopping\nPedaling\nTurning\n\nCome learn how to ride in a safe and supportive environment. \nThis is a multigenerational\, all ages learn to ride class. We are limited to 20 students or fewer. Bicycles and helmets are provided. If you have your own bicycle\, you may bring it for us to assess for size\, functionality\, etc. \nBring water\, snack\, and wear comfortable clothing. \nThis event is OUTSIDE & WEATHER PENDING. DESCRIPTION:Take the bicycle festival survey here\nLet’s ride a bike!\nThe South Inglewood Bicycle Festival is back for a second year! This event brings together a wide variety of bicycling enthusiasts – from supporters to mechanics\, from beginners to experienced cyclists\, from commuters to mountain bikers to cargo haulers and more. \nBike Fun is grateful to have received a second year grant from the Inglewood Neighborhood Association in support of this event. We are also thankful for our returning location partner\, the South Inglewood Community Center! \nIf there’s inclement weather\, the Bicycle Festival will be held inside the South Inglewood Community Center. Otherwise\, we’ll be outside! \nWhat’s going on during the festival?\nRebecca Street will be a SLOW STREET! It will be CLOSED to anything other than residential traffic. You can access the community center parking lot via Moore. You can park on Branch\, Moore\, Shinkle\, or Ann Streets. \nIn addition to the tables and activities from festival participants\, Bike Fun will have 4 stations for attendees: \n\na basic bicycle maintenance station (with kids bike giveaways)\na station for traffic laws and safety guidelines\na helmet fitting station (with adult & kid helmet giveaways)\na station with crafts to make your bike or bike helmet more fun and visible\n\n1:00pm – Festival opens\n1:30pm – Storytime ride with Ms Allgood of Inglewood Elementary (meet at Inglewood Elementary booth)\n2:00pm – Slow Bicycle Race with Friends of Shelby (meet at Friends of Shelby booth)\n2:30pm – “How to Mom on a Bike” – with Brenda & Meg (meet at cargo bike/bus demo area)\n3:00pm – Storytime ride with Ms Allgood of Inglewood Elementary (meet at Inglewood Elementary booth)\nOngoing – bicycle giveaways\, helmet giveaways\, helmet fitting\, rider/bicycle visibility\, slow street on Rebecca St\n4:00pm – Festival closes \nThanks to our participants\, we’ll have some great giveaways at the Bicycle Festival including helmets\, lights\, kids bikes\, t-shirts\, and more. \nBest of all\, this event is free & open to the public. \n30 Days of Biking\nThe month of April is the season for 30 Days of Biking.
