DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately\, we’re looking at some wet weather coming our way – lots of it!\nIn order to respect everyone’s time and energy\, we are CANCELLING this event for this year. \nLook for another social and fun coffee ride coming in May! \nHooray for 30 Days of Biking!\nA Bike Fun group ride to celebrate the start of 30 Days of Biking! The ride will roll for about 10-15 miles and is casual paced\, no drop. We’ll split into 2 speed groups to make rolling more efficient! RSVP here (it’s free\, we just want to know how many people to expect). \nAll ages welcomed\nWant to bring your kids? We’ll have a turnaround spot for young riders at about 3 1/2 miles in. \nNeed a bike?\nBike Fun can provide bikes for adults or kids (no training wheels). SUMMARY:Pedal the Park with Friends of Shelby
DESCRIPTION:WELCOME BACK\, Y’ALL!\nTake a ride in the park with Friends of Shelby and Bike Fun! Twice a month\, we’ll cruise around Shelby Park starting from the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center Trailhead for a casual\, no-drop ride\, lasting about an hour. Free\, social bike ride for ages 10+.  \nThis ride supports new and returning bicycle riders for ages 10 and up who want to learn more about bicycle riding in a no-pressure\, encouraging environment. We will learn more about  \n\nthe hows and whys of greenway riding\nbasic bicycle maintenance\nfeatures of Shelby Park and Bottoms\nthe work Friends of Shelby Park does to support the park.\n\nDepending on the number of riders\, we may split up into different pace groups. \n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet at the Nature Center Trailhead – look for the bicycle riders by the trailhead sign. No RSVP required (unless you need a bicycle – see below!)  \n\nMeet up starting at 5pm for a bike inspection and hang out. We’ll provide a safety overview and check everyone’s tires as needed. We will roll out at 5:30pm.  \nYOU MAY WANT TO BRING LIGHTS! \nHas it been a while since you last biked? Want to join but haven’t got your own bike? A limited number of bikes are available for us to bring – drop us a line at least 48 hours in advance so we can provide a bike that fits your needs. Bikes are FIRST COME\, FIRST SERVED. We will cancel rides in case of heavy rain\, lightning\, or extreme heat (heat index of 95 or higher). DESCRIPTION:Get Rolling on Your Bicycle Journey\nBike Fun is lead teaching a course for EVERYBODY on learning (or relearning) how to ride a bicycle. This course is meant for brand new riders and for potential riders who are anxious about getting back on a bicycle after a long time away. \nWalk Bike Nashville is sponsoring the course. \n(Interested in volunteering to help us out? Fill out this form!) \n \nClass Details\nOn Sunday\, April 27th\, 2025\, Walk Bike Nashville hosts an EVERYBODY Learn to Ride event. Get started on your bike life and sign up today! \nThis course is for people who have never pedaled a bicycle before or who have been away for decades! It will cover the following topics: \n\nGetting onto the bike\nBasic balance\nStarting and stopping\nPedaling\nTurning\n\nCome learn how to ride in a safe and supportive environment. \nDate: Sunday\, April 27th\, 2025\nTime: 1p-4p\nRegister: REGISTRATION FORM  – you must register so we know what size bike to have for you\, and how many supplies for all students!\nLocation: Bellevue UMC\, 7501 Old Harding Pike\, Nashville\, TN 37221 \nThis is a multigenerational\, all ages learn to ride class. We are limited to 25 students or fewer. Bicycles and helmets are provided. If you have your own bicycle\, you may bring it for us to assess for size\, functionality\, etc. \nBring water bottle\, preferred snack\, and wear comfortable clothing. \nThis event is OUTSIDE & WEATHER PENDING. SUMMARY:Pedal the Park with Friends of Shelby
DESCRIPTION:Take a ride in the park with Friends of Shelby and Bike Fun! Twice a month\, we’ll cruise around Shelby Park starting from the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center Trailhead for a casual\, no-drop ride\, lasting about an hour. Free\, social bike ride for ages 10+.  \nThis ride supports new and returning bicycle riders for ages 10 and up who want to learn more about bicycle riding in a no-pressure\, encouraging environment. We will learn more about  \n\nthe hows and whys of greenway riding\nbasic bicycle maintenance\nfeatures of Shelby Park and Bottoms\nthe work Friends of Shelby Park does to support the park.\n\nDepending on the number of riders\, we may split up into different pace groups. \n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet at the Nature Center Trailhead – look for the bicycle riders by the trailhead sign. No RSVP required (unless you need a bicycle – see below!)  \n\nMeet up starting at 5pm for a bike inspection and hang out. We’ll provide a safety overview and check everyone’s tires as needed. We will roll out at 5:30pm.  \nYOU MAY WANT TO BRING LIGHTS! \nHas it been a while since you last biked? Want to join but haven’t got your own bike? A limited number of bikes are available for us to bring – drop us a line at least 48 hours in advance so we can provide a bike that fits your needs. Bikes are FIRST COME\, FIRST SERVED. We will cancel rides in case of heavy rain\, lightning\, or extreme heat (heat index of 95 or higher). Check the event calendar for updates!\nRide requirements & requests\nIf you feel sick\, stay home! \nWe ride as a group to support new and returning bicycle riders – no rider left behind. If you are a more experienced bike rider\, you are welcome to come and help other riders build their riding confidence and skills!\n\nAdhere to all greenway trail etiquette (ride on right\, signal when passing\, stay under 15MPH\, slow down around walkers). \n\n\nThere is no charge for this ride\, but donations to Bike Fun or Friends of Shelby are gratefully accepted.
