DESCRIPTION:Take a ride in the park with Friends of Shelby and Bike Fun! Twice a month\, we’ll cruise around Shelby Park starting from the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center Trailhead for a casual\, no-drop ride\, lasting about an hour. Free\, social bike ride for ages 10+.  \nThis ride supports new and returning bicycle riders for ages 10 and up who want to learn more about bicycle riding in a no-pressure\, encouraging environment. We will learn more about  \n\nthe hows and whys of greenway riding\nbasic bicycle maintenance\nfeatures of Shelby Park and Bottoms\nthe work Friends of Shelby Park does to support the park.\n\nDepending on the number of riders\, we may split up into different pace groups. \n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet at the Nature Center Trailhead – look for the bicycle riders by the trailhead sign. No RSVP required (unless you need a bicycle – see below!)  \n\nMeet up starting at 5pm for a bike inspection and hang out. We’ll provide a safety overview and check everyone’s tires. We will roll out at 5:30pm.  \nHas it been a while since you last biked? Want to join but haven’t got your own bike? A limited number of bikes are available for us to bring – drop us a line at least 48 hours in advance so we can provide a bike that fits your needs. Bikes are FIRST COME\, FIRST SERVED. DESCRIPTION:Need tools\, parts\, support? We got you.\nCome join us on the second Tuesday of the month through the end of 2024 at Cosecha Community at Woodbine UMC. We’ll have information on bike riding\, taking care of your bike\, and more. \nIndoor shop space is limited to 3 people at a time for up to one hour. We ask for a deposit of wallet\, watch\, phone\, or keys in addition to a signed waiver. We will also have a workstand set up outside for quick fixes or inspections. \n  \nIt’s donation-based\nWe’ve got a limited number of spare parts available on a sliding scale basis. If you just need bench space to use tools\, consider making donation to either Bike Fun or Cosecha Community. \nFirst come\, first served\nBasic fix assistance includes fix-a-flat\, bolt safety checks\, and chain cleaning. We will have activities for learning to ride\, an open ride time\, and the SLOWEST BICYCLE RACE – with prizes! \nThe event will be held at the Green Hills Park on Lone Oak Rd and will feature community groups\, food vendors\, activities\, and a movie. \nMeet us at the tennis courts! \nWhat we’ll learn\nFrom 5-6PM\, Bike Fun and friends will host an introduction to riding skills. This activity is designed for ANYONE who hasn’t learned how to pedal a two wheeled bicycle yet. We will have bikes of all sizes for riders to try. If you have a bike and want us to help you get it set up to learn\, bring it with you! \nWe will also have an OPEN SKILLS RIDE running concurrently from 5-6:30PM. \nFrom 6:30-7:00PM challenge your skills in the SLOWEST BICYCLE RACE. We will cover the basics of home bicycle maintenance\, as well as provide time to answer questions you may have about bicycle maintenance. DESCRIPTION:You’re Never Too Old to Learn to Ride!\nThis course is for brand new riders who have either only pedaled on training wheels or who have tried without success to ride without training wheels. \nYou must register to attend – fill out this registration form! Class size limited to 5 students. Registration fee is $10-20. Income based scholarships available. \nDo you know a 7 or 8 year old who needs some help getting going on two wheels? Then we have something just for you! \nClass Details\nBike Fun is hosting a 7 & 8 Year Old Learn to Ride event. Get your kid started on their bicycling journey! \nThis course is for 7 and 8 year olds who have never pedaled a bicycle before. It covers the following topics: \n\nGetting onto the bike\nBasic balance\nStarting and stopping\nPedaling\nTurning\n\nCome learn how to ride in a safe and supportive environment. \nFor our learn to ride classes\, we emphasize exposure\, not expertise. DESCRIPTION:Declare your love for pizza on this fun group ride!\nPizza Party!!! bike ride will roll for a raucous celebration of all things pizza. \nMeet at East Park Community Center (on the back side of the building) and be ready for a casual ride through East Nashville to visit Frankie’s Spuntino with a bonus slice opportunity at Five Points East. Pay as you go for a slice (though if things are a lil tight this month\, let us know – we can cover it). \nGet ready for an approximately 10 mile ride with some pizza in the middle. It will be getting dark as we ride so lights are required. \nThis is a NO DROP ride for all kinds of riders; do note that there may be hills along the way. Estimated time to complete the ride will be about 2 hours at the longest. (If you need a snack before eating pizza BRING ONE!) \nThis is a casual\, social ride – riders of all levels are welcome; however\, please be aware there will be hills on the route. \nWhat about the weather?\nIf it is torrentially downpouring or otherwise severe weather\, the ride will be cancelled. Slight drizzle will not stop this roll. We will call the ride no later than noon. \nRSVP below\nIf you are considering making the ride\, please fill out the registration form so we have an idea of how many folks to expect. DESCRIPTION:Learn at home caregiving tasks to keep your bicycle in tip top shape. Receive praise from the bike shop for keeping your bike in good order! Find out why it’s important to shift gears properly\, what inflation to use for your tires\, how (and why) to clean a chain\, and more. \nWant to keep your bike on the road and out of the shop? Come learn how just a few maintenance tasks will keep your bike going longer. \nBike Fun is hosting a Basic Bicycle Maintenance class. We will cover the basics of home bicycle maintenance\, as well as provide time to answer questions you may have about bicycle maintenance. If you have a bicycle and bring it\, we’ll also fill out your very own Bicycle Information Sheet. \nRegistration for the class is here. Suggested ticket price is sliding scale between $25-35.  \nWe will be inside working on our bicycles. \nThis course is for anyone 13 and up who wants to learn more about taking good care of a bicycle. It will cover the following topics: \n\nHow to fix a flat\nHow to properly inflate your tires\nHow to clean a chain and diagnose chain wear; and\nWhat each part of your bike is.\n\nAges 13+ – this is not a youth-specific course\, FYI.
