DESCRIPTION:Cancelled due to weather potential for lightning/thunder/strong storms. Hope to see you next week! \nJoin us for our FTW group bicycle ride. Any time is great to ride\, of course\, but it’s even better when it’s with new bike friends. \n\n(What’s FTW? Check out this blog post from Grease Rag {Minneapolis} supporter Emily on FTW rides and their meaning.) \n\n\nThis ride will center returning and new riders who hope to gain confidence and knowledge about riding a bike. Rides will be between 6-10 miles. No rider left behind. We will traverse streets and greenways.\n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet in the main parking lot by the clubhouse at the golf course. \n\nWe will have a short (10 minute) maintenance demo at the beginning of the ride covering various topics like tire inflation\, fixing a dropped chain\, lubricating a drivetrain\, and more. (Only one topic covered per ride!)\n\nMeet at location 6:00p to mingle/chat; maintenance demo will happen by 5:40p; we will roll out of the location by 6:30p.\n\nDon’t want to mingle or watch demo? Just come by 6:30p to roll out.\n\nStart locations will be chosen from Ted Rhodes Golf Course (near the Cumberland River Greenway trailhead) in North Nashville and Shelby Park or Bass Park in East Nashville.\n\nIn case of predictable inclement weather\, the ride will be cancelled. We will post updates on our Twitter feed.\nRide requirements & requests\nPlease note: masks are OPTIONAL*. If you feel sick\, stay home! \nWe ride as a group to support new and returning bicycle riders – no rider left behind. Come and join us on this #coffeeoutside ride! \nOn this morning ride\, we’ll meet at the Shelby Park & Bottoms Nature Center (on the TRAIL/RIVER SIDE\, not in the parking lot). \nMEET STARTING AT 8:30AM. ROLL OUT IS 9AM (maybe 9:05AM at the very latest). Our route will take us from the Nature Center down Davidson Street out to 5th Street\, down Fatherland\, and over to Woodland where we will stop at Yeast Nashville for coffee\, tea\, kolache (or all three!). On the way back\, we’ll go through the Lockeland Springs neighborhood and back down into the greenway at the Lillian Street entrance. \nBEGINNERS ARE WELCOME though please note we will be riding partially on streets\, partially on greenways. There are some hills but nothing too insurmountable. This is a NO DROP RIDE. \nDon’t have a bike? Rent one from the BCycle station! \nRide length will likely be around 10 miles. \n

DESCRIPTION:KJ from Bike Fun will be lead teaching a course on learning how to ride a bike. This course is meant for brand new riders who have either only pedaled on training wheels or who have tried without success to ride without training wheels. \nYou must register to attend – fill out this registration form! Class size is limited to 5 students. Suggested donation $5-10.  \nDo you know a 7 or 8 year old who needs some help getting going on two wheels? Then we have something just for you! \nOn Saturday\, June 18th\, Bike Fun is hosting a 7 & 8 Year Old Learn to Ride event. Come help us get your kid started on your bicycling journey! \nThis course is for 7 and 8 year olds who have never pedaled a bicycle before. It will cover the following topics: \n\nGetting onto the bike\nBasic balance\nStarting and stopping\nPedaling\nTurning\n\nCome learn how to ride in a safe and supportive environment. \nAges 7 & 8. Bicycles and helmets can be provided for those who would like to attend but don’t have their own bicycle yet. Bicycles may need to be shared among participants. Please bring a water bottle/hydration and a snack! DESCRIPTION:Join us for our FTW group bicycle ride. Any time is great to ride\, of course\, but it’s even better when it’s with new bike friends. \n\n(What’s FTW? Check out this blog post from Grease Rag {Minneapolis} supporter Emily on FTW rides and their meaning.) \n\n\nThis ride will center returning and new riders who hope to gain confidence and knowledge about riding a bike. Rides will be between 6-10 miles. No rider left behind. We will traverse streets and greenways.\n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet in the main parking lot by the clubhouse at the golf course. \n\nWe will have a short (10 minute) maintenance demo at the beginning of the ride covering various topics like tire inflation\, fixing a dropped chain\, lubricating a drivetrain\, and more. (Only one topic covered per ride!)\n\nMeet at location 6:00p to mingle/chat; maintenance demo will happen by 5:40p; we will roll out of the location by 6:30p.\n\nDon’t want to mingle or watch demo? Just come by 6:30p to roll out.\n\nStart locations will be chosen from Ted Rhodes Golf Course (near the Cumberland River Greenway trailhead) in North Nashville and Shelby Park or Bass Park in East Nashville.\n\nIn case of predictable inclement weather\, the ride will be cancelled. We will post updates on our Twitter feed.\nRide requirements & requests\nPlease note: masks are OPTIONAL*. If you feel sick\, stay home! \nWe ride as a group to support new and returning bicycle riders – no rider left behind. DESCRIPTION:We are RESCHEDULING this event to Tuesday\, May 31st\, due to anticipated weather on the 26th. Thank you! \nE-bikes are a great way to get active. This introductory class will familiarize you with the e-bikes in the Nashville B-Cycle fleet. This session is designed for older riders who want to learn more about pedal assist bicycles. \nExperts from Bike Fun will lead participants with an introduction to bike safety and give you a chance to ride an e-bike in a flat\, vehicle-free\, open area. \nWe will go over the following: \n\nTurning the bike on\nBrief safety check before riding\nShifting gears\nBraking techniques\n\nAdditionally\, we’ll cover finding the BCycle stations\, using the app\, signing up for an account\, how to borrow the bikes\, and hours of operation. \nE-bikes pedal and handle just like a regular bicycle. By and large\, an electric bike will use the same parts too. The electric component is meant to augment human power\, not completely replace it. It makes obstacles like hills and headwind more manageable and allows you to travel further without getting as tired. \nPlease register so we know how many bicycles to have on hand!

DESCRIPTION:Weather is unpredictable today so we’re going to cancel the ride for tonight. See you next week! \nJoin us for our FTW group bicycle ride. Any time is great to ride\, of course\, but it’s even better when it’s with new bike friends. \n\n(What’s FTW? Check out this blog post from Grease Rag {Minneapolis} supporter Emily on FTW rides and their meaning.) \n\n\nThis ride will center returning and new riders who hope to gain confidence and knowledge about riding a bike. Rides will be between 6-10 miles. No rider left behind. We will traverse streets and greenways.\n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet in the main parking lot by the clubhouse at the golf course. \n\nWe will have a short (10 minute) maintenance demo at the beginning of the ride covering various topics like tire inflation\, fixing a dropped chain\, lubricating a drivetrain\, and more. (Only one topic covered per ride!)\n\nMeet at location 6:00p to mingle/chat; maintenance demo will happen by 5:40p; we will roll out of the location by 6:30p.\n\nDon’t want to mingle or watch demo? Just come by 6:30p to roll out.\n\nStart locations will be chosen from Ted Rhodes Golf Course (near the Cumberland River Greenway trailhead) in North Nashville and Shelby Park or Bass Park in East Nashville.\n\nIn case of predictable inclement weather\, the ride will be cancelled. We will post updates on our Twitter feed.\nRide requirements & requests\nPlease note: masks are OPTIONAL*. If you feel sick\, stay home! \nWe ride as a group to support new and returning bicycle riders – no rider left behind. If you are a more experienced bike rider\, you are welcome to come and help other FTW riders build their riding confidence and skills!\n\n  \nAdhere to all greenway trail etiquette (ride on right\, signal when passing\, stay under 15MPH\, slow down around walkers). \n\n\n  \nThere is no charge for this ride\, but donations to Bike Fun – a non-profit organization based in Nashville – are welcomed.
