DESCRIPTION:Join us for our FTW group bicycle ride. Any time is great to ride\, of course\, but it’s even better when it’s with new bike friends. We roll 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month. Kick off the week with a ride! \n\n(What’s FTW? Check out this blog post from Grease Rag {Minneapolis} supporter Emily on FTW rides and their meaning.) \n\n\nThis ride will center returning and new riders who hope to gain confidence and knowledge about riding a bike. Rides will be between 5-8 miles. No rider left behind. We will traverse streets and greenways.\n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet in the main parking lot by the clubhouse at the golf course. \n\nWe will have a short (10 minute) maintenance demo at the beginning of the ride covering basic bike maintenance.\n\nMeet at location 6:00p to mingle/chat; maintenance demo will happen by 6:10p; we will roll out of the location by 6:30p.\n\nDon’t want to mingle or watch demo? Just come by 6:30p to roll out. There is a BCycle station nearby if you need to rent a bike!\n\nIn case of predictable inclement weather\, the ride will be cancelled. We will post updates on our Twitter feed.\nRide requirements & requests\nIf you feel sick\, stay home! \nWe ride as a group to support new and returning bicycle riders – no rider left behind. Find out why it’s important to shift gears properly\, what inflation to use for your tires\, how to clean a chain\, and more. \nYou must register to attend – fill out this registration form! Class size is limited to 10 students. Registration fee is flexible\, between $20-30.  \nWant to keep your bike on the road and out of the shop? Come learn how just a few maintenance tasks will keep your bike going longer. \nBike Fun is hosting a Basic Bicycle Maintenance class. We will cover the basics of home bicycle maintenance\, as well as provide time to answer questions you may have about bicycle maintenance. If you have a bicycle and bring it\, we’ll also fill out your very own Bicycle Information Sheet. \nWe will be inside working on our bicycles. \nThis course is for anyone 13 and up who wants to learn more about taking good care of a bicycle. DESCRIPTION:Take a ride in the park with Friends of Shelby and Bike Fun! Twice a month\, we’ll cruise along the Shelby Bottoms Greenway starting from the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center Trailhead for a casual\, no-drop ride\, lasting about an hour. Free\, social bike ride for ages 10+.  \nThis ride supports new and returning bicycle riders for ages 10 and up who want to learn more about bicycle riding in a no-pressure\, encouraging environment. We will learn more about  \n\nthe hows and whys of greenway riding\nbasic bicycle maintenance\nfeatures of Shelby Park and Bottoms\nthe work Friends of Shelby Park does to support the park.\n\n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet at the Nature Center Trailhead – look for the Friends of Shelby flag. No RSVP required (unless you need a bicycle – see below!)  \n\nMeet up starting at 5pm for a bike inspection and hang out. We’ll provide a safety overview and check everyone’s tires. We will roll out at 5:30pm.  \nHas it been a while since you last biked? Want to join but haven’t got your own bike? A limited number of bikes are available for us to bring – drop us a line at least 48 hours in advance so we can bring a bike that fits your needs. Bikes are FIRST COME\, FIRST SERVED. SUMMARY:Pedal Forward: FTW-Only Ride - August 07\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our FTW group bicycle ride. Any time is great to ride\, of course\, but it’s even better when it’s with new bike friends. We roll 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month. Kick off the week with a ride! \n\n(What’s FTW? Check out this blog post from Grease Rag {Minneapolis} supporter Emily on FTW rides and their meaning.) \n\n\nThis ride will center returning and new riders who hope to gain confidence and knowledge about riding a bike. Rides will be between 5-8 miles. No rider left behind. We will traverse streets and greenways.\n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet in the main parking lot by the clubhouse at the golf course. \n\nWe will have a short (10 minute) maintenance demo at the beginning of the ride covering basic bike maintenance.\n\nMeet at location 6:00p to mingle/chat; maintenance demo will happen by 6:10p; we will roll out of the location by 6:30p.\n\nDon’t want to mingle or watch demo? Just come by 6:30p to roll out. There is a BCycle station nearby if you need to rent a bike!\n\nIn case of predictable inclement weather\, the ride will be cancelled. We will post updates on our Twitter feed.\nRide requirements & requests\nIf you feel sick\, stay home! \nWe ride as a group to support new and returning bicycle riders – no rider left behind. DESCRIPTION:This is a SPECIAL EVENT to encourage multigenerational bike riding\, get to meet other bike riders in the area\, and enjoy deliciously cold popsicle treats. (Take the popsicle flavor survey so we make sure to get a flavor you’ll like!) \n\nRide schedule & details\n\nMeet up starting at 5pm for a bike inspection and hang out. We’ll provide a safety overview and check everyone’s tires. We will roll out at 5:30pm. \nTHIS EDITION OF THE PEDAL THE PARK RIDE WILL BEGIN AT CORNELIA FORT AIRPARK ON SHADOW LANE.  \nWe will roll as a large all-ages group\, then adults/older youth riders will split off for a guided ride on the back end of the greenway\, & younger riders will meet at the airpark entrance for games\, bicycle decoration\, & more!  \nWe will also have kids bikes to give away at the event. \nHas it been a while since you last biked? Twice a month\, we’ll cruise along the Shelby Bottoms Greenway starting from the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center Trailhead for a casual\, no-drop ride\, lasting about an hour. Free\, social bike ride for ages 10+.  \nThis ride supports new and returning bicycle riders for ages 10 and up who want to learn more about bicycle riding in a no-pressure\, encouraging environment. We will learn more about  \n\nthe hows and whys of greenway riding\nbasic bicycle maintenance\nfeatures of Shelby Park and Bottoms\nthe work Friends of Shelby Park does to support the park.\n\n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet at the Nature Center Trailhead – look for the Friends of Shelby flag. Rides will be between 5-8 miles. No rider left behind. We will traverse streets and greenways.\n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet in the main parking lot by the clubhouse at the golf course. \n\nWe will have a short (10 minute) maintenance demo at the beginning of the ride covering basic bike maintenance.\n\nMeet at location 6:00p to mingle/chat; maintenance demo will happen by 6:10p; we will roll out of the location by 6:30p.\n\nDon’t want to mingle or watch demo? Just come by 6:30p to roll out. There is a BCycle station nearby if you need to rent a bike!\n\nIn case of predictable inclement weather\, the ride will be cancelled. DESCRIPTION:Take a ride in the park with Friends of Shelby and Bike Fun! Twice a month\, we’ll cruise along the Shelby Bottoms Greenway starting from the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center Trailhead for a casual\, no-drop ride\, lasting about an hour. Free\, social bike ride for ages 10+.  \nThis ride supports new and returning bicycle riders for ages 10 and up who want to learn more about bicycle riding in a no-pressure\, encouraging environment. We will learn more about  \n\nthe hows and whys of greenway riding\nbasic bicycle maintenance\nfeatures of Shelby Park and Bottoms\nthe work Friends of Shelby Park does to support the park.\n\n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet at the Nature Center Trailhead – look for the Friends of Shelby flag. No RSVP required (unless you need a bicycle – see below!)  \n\nMeet up starting at 5pm for a bike inspection and hang out. We’ll provide a safety overview and check everyone’s tires. We will roll out at 5:30pm.  \nHas it been a while since you last biked? Want to join but haven’t got your own bike? A limited number of bikes are available for us to bring – drop us a line at least 48 hours in advance so we can bring a bike that fits your needs. Bikes are FIRST COME\, FIRST SERVED. Class size is limited to 10 students. Suggested donation $20-30.  \nWant to keep your bike on the road and out of the shop? Come learn how just a few maintenance tasks will keep your bike going longer. \nBike Fun is hosting a Basic Bicycle Maintenance class. We will cover the basics of home bicycle maintenance\, as well as provide time to answer all the questions you may have about bicycle maintenance. If you have a bicycle and bring it\, we’ll also fill out your very own Bicycle Information Sheet. \nWe will be inside working on our bicycles. \nThis course is for anyone 13 and up who wants to learn more about taking good care of a bicycle. It will cover the following topics: \n\nHow to fix a flat\nHow to properly inflate your tires\nHow to clean a chain and diagnose chain wear; and\nHow to make basic brake adjustments.\n\nAges 13+ – this is not a youth-specific course\, FYI. Let’s get back on!\nThis free workshop for returning adult riders is geared towards bicycle riders who want to boost their confidence to ride in the neighborhood\, to ride with their community\, and to ride on their own. \nRegister here! \nTopics covered will include \n\nPre-ride bike check\nStrong starting and safe stopping\nScanning\, signalling\, and turning\nAssessing conditions when riding\n\nWho should take this class?\nThis class is designed for adult students who know how to ride a bike and want to increase their riding confidence after some time away from riding. Bike Fun has limited bicycles and helmets to use for students who need them. If you need a bicycle or helmet\, we have limited quantities available – just let us know on the registration form! \nWhat should I bring?\nIf you have a bicycle to ride that is in safe working condition\, please bring it! (Not sure if it’s in safe working condition? Bring it to a local bike shop for a once-over before the workshop. We cannot repair bicycles on site.) \nBring a snack and some water. Bathrooms are available on site as needed. \nOther class details\nWe will work in the back parking lot at Trinity Community Commons and then apply the skills we learn during a short neighborhood ride to Tom Joy Park and back. \nClass size is limited to 10 participants. \nThis class is free and open to the public.
