SUMMARY:Holiday Lights Ride - December 2025
DESCRIPTION:Check out holiday light displays on a bike\nJoin Bike Fun and friends for a holiday light cruise on Saturday\, December 20th. We’ll roll at 4:30PM and aim to return to the start by 6:30PM. \nMeet at Shelby Community Center (in front) and be ready for a casual\, no drop ride through East Nashville and Inglewood. If there’s enough interest\, we’ll have a mid-ride hot beverage stop. \nIt will be getting dark as we ride so lights are required. \nThis is a NO DROP ride for all kinds of riders; do note that there may be hills along the way. Estimated time to complete the ride will be about 2 hours at the longest. (Bring a snack if you need one!) \nThis is a casual\, social ride – riders of all levels are welcome; however\, please be aware there will be hills on the route. \nWhat about the weather?\nIf it is torrentially downpouring or otherwise severe weather\, the ride will be cancelled. Slight mist will not stop this roll. We will call the ride no later than noon. \nRSVP below\nIf you are considering making the ride\, please fill out the registration form so we have an idea of how many folks to expect. Riders aged 10+ welcomed with parent or adult caregiver riding too. There’s no charge to just ride along & make new bike friends!

DESCRIPTION:Let’s ride a bike!\nRounding the corner into its FOURTH YEAR is the \nNashville Bicycle Festival\nThis event brings together a wide variety of bicycling enthusiasts – from supporters to mechanics\, from beginners to experienced cyclists\, from commuters to mountain bikers to cargo haulers and more. \nWhen: Saturday\, April 18th\, 10A-2P\nWhere: South Inglewood Community Center\, 1624 Rebecca Street \n \nWhat: Block printing of bicycle art (bring your own t-shirt if you want!)\, slow bicycle race\, helmet fittings & giveaways\, bike sizing & giveaways\, gear swap table\, rider & bicycle visibility station\, & more. See our participant list below! \nNew this year: a limited edition festival poster designed by our friend David Greaves and available for sale for suggested donation of $10! Printed with a risograph\, this fun design uses elements from a bike lane network map of Nashville as well as a quirky stylistic bicycle. \n \nDo you want to help volunteer at the festival? Sign ups are closed but come on by & check in at the Bike Fun booth!\nBike Fun is grateful to have received a grant for a fourth year from the Inglewood Neighborhood Association in support of this event. DESCRIPTION:Been out of the saddle for a while? Let’s get back on!\nThis free workshop for returning adult riders is geared towards bicycle riders who want to boost their confidence to ride in the neighborhood\, to ride with their community\, and to ride on their own. \nTopics covered will include \n\nPre-ride bike check\nStrong starting and safe stopping\nScanning\, signalling\, and turning\nAssessing conditions when riding\n\nWho should take this class?\nThis class is designed for adult students who know how to ride a bike and want to increase their riding confidence after some time away from riding or for adults who have recently learned how to ride and want to practice the basics. Bike Fun has limited bicycles and helmets to use for students who need them. If you need a bicycle or helmet\, just let us know on the registration form! \nWhat should I bring?\nIf you have a bicycle to ride that is in safe working condition\, please bring it! (Not sure if it’s in safe working condition? Bring it to a local bike shop for a once-over before the workshop\, or visit us at a Bike Lab Open Shop event to learn how to work on it yourself! We cannot repair bicycles on site.) \nBring a snack and some water. Bathrooms are available on site as needed. \nOther class details\nWe will work in the side parking lot and then apply the skills we learn during a short neighborhood ride. \nClass size is limited to 10 participants.

We will cancel rides in case of heavy rain\, lightning\, or extreme heat (heat index of 95 or higher). Check the event calendar for updates!\nRide requirements & requests\nIf you feel sick\, stay home! \nWe ride as a group to support new and returning bicycle riders – no rider left behind. If you are a more experienced bike rider\, you are welcome to come and help other riders build their riding confidence and skills!\n\nAdhere to all greenway trail etiquette (ride on right\, signal when passing\, stay under 15MPH\, slow down around walkers). \n\n\nThere is no charge for this ride\, but donations to Bike Fun or Friends of Shelby are gratefully accepted.
