The ride will roll for about 10-15 miles and is casual paced\, no drop. We’ll split into 2 speed groups to make rolling more efficient! SUMMARY:Pedal the Park with Friends of Shelby - April 08\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:WE’RE BACK FOR 2024!\nTake a ride in the park with Friends of Shelby and Bike Fun! Twice a month\, we’ll cruise around Shelby Park starting from the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center Trailhead for a casual\, no-drop ride\, lasting about an hour. Free\, social bike ride for ages 10+.  \nThis ride supports new and returning bicycle riders for ages 10 and up who want to learn more about bicycle riding in a no-pressure\, encouraging environment. We will learn more about  \n\nthe hows and whys of greenway riding\nbasic bicycle maintenance\nfeatures of Shelby Park and Bottoms\nthe work Friends of Shelby Park does to support the park.\n\nDepending on the number of riders\, we may split up into different pace groups. \n\nRide schedule & details\nMeet at the Nature Center Trailhead – look for the bicycle riders by the trailhead sign. No RSVP required (unless you need a bicycle – see below!)  \n\nMeet up starting at 5pm for a bike inspection and hang out. We’ll provide a safety overview and check everyone’s tires. We will roll out at 5:30pm.  \nHas it been a while since you last biked? Want to join but haven’t got your own bike? A limited number of bikes are available for us to bring – drop us a line at least 48 hours in advance so we can provide a bike that fits your needs. Bikes are FIRST COME\, FIRST SERVED. We will cancel rides in case of heavy rain\, lightning\, or extreme heat (heat index of 95 or higher). The ride will roll for about 10-15 miles on the Cumberland River Greenway and in Germantown and is casual paced\, no drop. We’ll split into 2 speed groups to make rolling more efficient! \nAll ages welcomed\nWant to bring your kids? We’ll have a turnaround spot for young riders at about 3 1/2 miles in. \nSchedule of events\nWe will head to Morgan Park for a mid-ride coffee stop. (We’ll have regular coffee & some other beverages to share.) \nMeet up at the Ted Rhodes golf course clubhouse parking lot starting around noon. We will roll out by 10:30a. If you need to borrow a bicycle\, there is a BCycle station nearby or Bike Fun can provide one for you with ample advance notice (get in contact here). \nWhere: Ted Rhodes golf course parking lot\nWhen: Saturday\, April 6th\, 10a meet – 10:30a roll\nHow far: 10-15 miles round trip\, with a conversation stop in the middle. DESCRIPTION:Let’s ride a bike!\nThe South Inglewood Bicycle Festival will bring together a wide variety of bicycling enthusiasts – from supporters to mechanics\, from beginners to experienced cyclists\, from commuters to mountain bikers to cargo haulers and more. \nBike Fun is grateful to have received a grant from the Inglewood Neighborhood Association in support of this event. \nIf there’s inclement weather\, the Bicycle Festival will be held inside the South Inglewood Community Center. Otherwise\, we’ll be outside! \nWhat’s going on during the festival?\nIn addition to the tables and activities from festival participants\, Bike Fun will have 5 stations for attendees: \n\na basic bicycle maintenance station (staffed by volunteers from Oasis Bike Workshop & Bike Fun)\na station for traffic laws and safety guidelines (staffed by volunteers from Bike Fun)\na helmet fitting station (staffed by volunteers from TICL / NICA GRiT)\na station with crafts to make your bike or bike helmet more fun and visible (staffed by volunteers from Patagonia Nashville & Bike Fun)\na bicycle sizing & style station (staffed by volunteers from REI Brentwood)\n\nThanks to our participants\, we’ll have some great giveaways at the Bicycle Festival including helmets\, lights\, kids bikes\, t-shirts\, and more. \nExtra chances to win cool bike stuff!\nAll festival participants and attendees can pledge to ride their bicycle during the entire month of April as part of 30 Days of Biking. (Only one topic covered per ride!)\n\nMeet at location 5:30p to mingle/chat; maintenance demo will happen by 5:40p; we will roll out of the location by 6:00p.\n\nDon’t want to mingle or watch demo? Just come by 6:00p to roll out. Sunset is around 7:25p so our ride will last about an hour.\n\nStart locations will be chosen from Ted Rhodes Golf Course (near the Cumberland River Greenway trailhead) in North Nashville and Shelby Park or Bass Park in East Nashville.\n\nIn case of predictable inclement weather\, the ride will be cancelled. DESCRIPTION:Do you like coffee? Do you like bikes? Come and join us on this #coffeeoutside ride! \nOn this morning ride\, we’ll meet at the Richland Library branch off of Charlotte Ave for a jaunt down through Richland Park to enjoy some morning brew\, made outside. The coffee stop will be near the Wyoming Trailhead parking lot\, at the map/info shelter area near the golf course. \nBike Fun will provide coffee and a brewing apparatus; you bring your mug* (and whatever coffee modification you prefer: cream\, sugar\, etc) and a sense of adventure. Get your legs moving before you even realize you’re awake! (If you have coffee and a brewing apparatus to bring\, feel free to do so!) \nROLL OUT IS 8AM (maybe 8:05AM at the very latest). We’ll ride through the park and have a stop\, then ride back to the library. \nDon’t have a bike?
