DESCRIPTION:Learn at home caregiving tasks to keep your bicycle in tip top shape. Receive praise from the bike shop for keeping your bike in good order! Find out why it’s important to shift gears properly\, what inflation to use for your tires\, how (and why) to clean a chain\, and more. \nWant to keep your bike on the road and out of the shop? Come learn how just a few maintenance tasks will keep your bike going longer. \nBike Fun is hosting a Basic Bicycle Maintenance class. We will cover the basics of home bicycle maintenance\, as well as provide time to answer questions you may have about bicycle maintenance. If you have a bicycle and bring it\, we’ll also fill out your very own Bicycle Information Sheet. \nRegistration for the class is here. Suggested ticket price is sliding scale between $50-100.  \nWe will be inside working on our bicycles. \nThis course is for anyone 13 and up who wants to learn more about taking good care of a bicycle. It will cover the following topics: \n\nHow to fix a flat\nHow to properly inflate your tires\nHow to clean a chain and diagnose chain wear; and\nWhat each part of your bike is.\n\nAges 13 and up – this is not a youth-specific course\, FYI. Bicycles can be provided for those who would like to attend but don’t have their own bicycle yet. We’ll be at the Community Dinner with information on bike riding\, advocating for people who ride bikes in Nashville\, taking care of your bike\, and more. \nStay for the community dinner and meet neighbors who are passionate about making Nashville a more connected and vibrant place to live. \nIt’s free\nYou don’t have to pay anything to have your bike assessed. If you’d like to make a donation to either Bike Fun or Trinity Community Commons\, you are welcome to do so! \nFirst come\, first served\nOur basic fixes include fix-a-flat\, bolt safety checks\, and chain cleaning. We will have replacement tubes & tires on a first-come-first-served basis. DESCRIPTION:Been out of the saddle for a while? Let’s get back on!\nThis free workshop for returning adult riders is geared towards bicycle riders who want to boost their confidence to ride in the neighborhood\, to ride with their community\, and to ride on their own. \nRegister here! \nTopics covered will include \n\nPre-ride bike check\nStrong starting and safe stopping\nScanning\, signalling\, and turning\nAssessing conditions when riding\n\nWho should take this class?\nThis class is designed for adult students who know how to ride a bike and want to increase their riding confidence after some time away from riding or for adults who have recently learned how to ride. Bike Fun has limited bicycles and helmets to use for students who need them. If you need a bicycle or helmet\, we have some available – just let us know on the registration form! \nWhat should I bring?\nIf you have a bicycle to ride that is in safe working condition\, please bring it! (Not sure if it’s in safe working condition? Bring it to a local bike shop for a once-over before the workshop\, or visit us at a Bike Lab Open Shop event to learn how to work on it yourself! We cannot repair bicycles on site.) \nBring a snack and some water. Bathrooms are available on site as needed. \nOther class details\nWe will work in the side parking lot and then apply the skills we learn during a short neighborhood ride. \nClass size is limited to 10 participants. \nThis class is free and open to the public.
